About Dr. Els van der Helm and the Shleep
Dr. Els van der Helm is a sleep expert, ex-McKinsey consultant and founder of Shleep, a company focused on improving the performance of organizations by improving the sleep of leaders and teams with a digital sleep coaching platform. Clients include top firms in consulting, tech and banking. She received her PhD from UC Berkeley and is an adjunct professor at IE Business School in Madrid.

Els extensively researched sleep during her Master’s in Neurosciences, during which she studied the effect of sleep on memory (Netherlands Institute for Neurosciences) and emotional processing (Harvard Medical School). She also studied the effects of sleep on the brain during her PhD in Psychology (University of California Berkeley), resulting in peer-reviewed articles in Current Biology, PLoS One, Psychological Bulletin, SLEEP, PNAS and several book chapters.
