A Mentee is someone who benefits from the knowledge, experience, and support of a mentor, striving for personal or professional growth. In the mentoring relationship, the mentee gains not only valuable guidance but also motivation and confidence in overcoming challenges. They are an active participant in the process, maximizing the value of this unique collaboration through their engagement.
A Mentor is an experienced individual who shares their knowledge, skills, and perspective to support the development of others. They serve as a guide, inspirer, and advisor, helping the mentee overcome challenges and achieve goals. The mentor’s role is not to impose solutions but to stimulate reflection and strengthen the mentee’s independence. Our event is an inspiring day that begins with impactful speeches from exceptional speakers and the first meeting of mentor-mentee pairs. The next highlight is the mentoring walk in the picturesque Amsterdamse Bos Park – the perfect setting for conversations, exchanging experiences, and building relationships surrounded by nature.
To wrap up, we invite everyone to a relaxed networking session, where participants can exchange contacts, share their impressions, and celebrate the time spent together. Even when the weather surprises us, the unwavering enthusiasm and positive energy of the participants ensure that this event is always unforgettable!

The Global Mentoring Walk takes place worldwide, in over 50 countries. Since its inception in 2008, the event has brought together thousands of participants, building a global community of women who share experiences, support, and inspiration.

GMW was founded by Dorothy Domeste, who aimed to create a platform for women worldwide to explore their professional potential, establish valuable connections, and receive support from experienced mentors. Her vision has united women in an inspiring movement rooted in collaboration and equality.

The concept of the Global Mentoring Walk originates from the American media icon, founder and former CEO of Oxygen Media, Geraldine Laybourne, who started mentoring walks to empower young professionals in New York and across the United States.
Attributing much of her success in the American entertainment industry to mentoring, Ms. Laybourne stated, “Why have so many of us succeeded? Because we had a mentoring perspective. We helped each other.”
In 2008, Geraldine shared her strategy with the leaders of Vital Voices, who immediately decided to implement it. What started with one leader grew into a global movement. In 2017, Polish Professional Women in The Netherlands (PPW), inspired by Vital Voices, joined the movement.
The idea of the Global Mentoring Walk aligns with the goals of PPW, which are to integrate and support professionals in achieving their career objectives.
